Fresh out of the inbox: "Looked out my office window this morning and noticed the 40+ story building building they have been putting up has put an advertisement up, looks like its going rental, have never seen anything about it." Well friend, you haven't been browsing three-and-a-half-year-old WiredNY threads! If you want the Franciscan history of the building, do check that out, but let's focus on the present here. The "green" building in the no-man's-land of 31st Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues?built by the Durst Organization/Sidney Fetner Associates and designed by SLCE Architects?has been dubbed The Epic, and it was destined to be a rental building all along.
The 58-story building has 458 studio one- and two-bedroom apartments, and amenities include refrigerated FreshDirect lobby storage, a parking garage, a MetroCard vending machine(!) and a big fitness center stocked with something called TechnoGym equipment. Sounds pulsating. The website has all the floorplans and details you desire, so check it out. Who said the luxury rental is all but dead?
