1) Hudson Square: Please welcome to the neighborhood developer Jeffrey Lam and architect Peter Poon (of dryvit-filled Comfort Inn fame), who are constructing a 17-story hotel at 52-54 Watts. Says a commenter, "You've got an ugly new neighbor my friend of the budget hotel kind. A relative of the McSam McUglies. Welcome to tourist suburbia." Some more angles of this "Poon Palace," which will tower over new burger and wing joint Kool Bloo, over at Wired NY.
2) Upper East Side: Regarding fears of a view-blocking residential development on the east end of 61st St., commenter Dave notes, "Last I heard the plan was to build the second 1 Sutton Place North building at the end of the lot where the parking garage was. If they are at the end of 62nd, I'd speculate they are in for a view of a building." The good news is that facade connossieur Triple Mint calls the exterior of 1 Sutton "the best, most seamless curtain wall in New York."
