Rumblings & Bumblings: Get Up for the Down Slope

If it's Tuesday, and there's development, there'll be Rumblings & Bumblings. If you've got an answer to one of the reader queries below, leave a note in the comments. If you've got another question, or a sweet, sweet digital photograph, drop a line to tips@curbed.com. Answers Thursday.

1) Down Slope: A reader writes, "Anyone know what is going to be built in Brooklyn on 4th avenue at 12th street. The building that was there has been torn down and cleared. There is a wooden fence around the property now."
2) Soho: A report from the flea market site on the southwest corner of Spring and Wooster: "It looks like they have a small machine onsite, that i assume could be used for drilling core samples. Are they going to finally build a building there?"
3) Long Island City: "Anyone know the story behind the rising tower on the corner of 34th and Van Dam in Long Island City? It's an odd area to build such a big tower, since it's quite a hike to the nearest subway station. Residential? Condos? Details?"
4) Chelsea: Finally, regarding the parking lot at the corner of 17th and 6th, a reader writes, "This lot was closed briefly which seemed to indicate that something was going up there. Any knowledge as to what is going on?"
