One is tempted to say something like, holy crap, but we'll settle for pointing out the issue that this photo dropped into our Curbed Photo Pool by flickr photog bondidwhat gets at some, uh, mixed feelings in Gowanus about development. (The million dollar condos the sign talks about about would be this proposed Toll Brothers development.) The raging sewage issue, of course, stands apart from the various local toxicity issues. Also, there are plans to clean up the canal, which is attacked by sewage whenever it rains. Regardless, check out bondidwhat's cool new photoset of Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill & Boerum Hill. Whether any of this impacts the "Gowanus Renaissance," we don't know.
