New Coney Website Plays Up Rides, Hides the Housing

More shots fired in the Coney Island redevelopment push by Thor Equities with the launch of its website, thefutureofconeyisland.com. (Guess they didn't note the idea of keeping names simple and easy to type.) The domain is registered to The Marino Organization, which is Thor's PR firm. They have also sent out mailers with a decidedly low-budget, grassroots feel to Brooklynites talking up the redevelopment plans. The new site is heavy on talk of amusements, job opportunities, retail opportunities and concern for the community. It omits mention of more controversial plans to develop luxury housing highrises on the boardwalk. It uses a images of published print media stories that have featured early renderings of Thor's Coney vision. Alas, no new drawings.
