Last Friday's news that the Gansevoort Hotel's MeatBoard violates zoning rules? Don't bother telling that to the hotel owners, who, in a statement to the Observer, remain defiant: "There has been no violation issued against the hotel or sign. The sign is currently being installed in a matter that is legal—the city is aware of this and has approved it." Helping their case is the reveal that the board, which is supposed to be at a 90-degree angle facing away from Hudson Street is, in fact, angled at 86 degrees.
