Bowery Hotel: Already Over

The Bowery Hotel has taken some hits for its similarities to the Gramercy Park Hotel, but what about the design trends that it seems to be inspiring? At top left, you have the Tower of Bowery; next to it, a skinny brownstone being renovated on East 11th Street between Second and Third Avenues. Who knew this brick-and-black-star facade would catch on so darn quickly? Sure, the look is all over old Brooklyn warehouse-type buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s, but that's, like, Brooklyn.
