Enrique Norten Would Design New Red Hook Buildings

Looks like Enrique Norten and TEN Arquitectos will be designing the buildings that Thor Equities would like to build on the site of the former Revere Sugar Plant in Red Hook. Thor recently finished demolishing the landmark Revere Dome and is tearing down other structures on the site. A neighborhood source familiar with plans says Norten would design up to six new mid-rise buildings as part of a mixed use retail and residential complex. Alas, no renderings, but Norten's participation is said to be "a certainty." Of course, the parcel is still zoned for manufacturing use and there is opposition to housing, so certainty is always relative. For instance, Norten is also the architect on developer Shaya Boymelgreen's Gowanus Village.
