Clinton Street Losing Last Patch of Green

Down on the Lower East Side, during an era in which Clinton Street has seen restaurant empires rise and fall, the open grassy lot on the northeast corner of Clinton and Stanton Streets has served as a reminder of simpler times—of times before Wylie Dufresne and $4,000/month apartments. Recently, however, the lot was graced with a for-sale sign (above), and now, according to the listing page at Halstead, the lot has gone to contract. Will the buyer, who presumably paid in the neighborhood of the $3.2 million asking, exploit the broker's suggestion to, er, "Heart of the restaurant roe in the Lower East Side hottest neighborhood in city"? Time will tell.
