That's Rather Hideous: Everything Is Illuminated

That's Rather Hideous examines questionable decisions in interior design as revealed in listing photos. Nominees, please, to tips@curbed.com.

Today we're coming at you live from Central Park West and 108th Street, where we've got a one bedroom asking $399,000 on our hands. The rooms themselves aren't much to look at, but the real hideous here is in the details—notably the stand-alone photos of the apartment lighting that grace the listing. Says our tipster regarding the—er, thing—at left, "Can't understand how anyone would proudly display this." Let's give the broker the closing word: "All you'll need to do is move in and enjoy this one-bedroom that recreates the opulence of the past on a comfortably modern scale."

BONUS: Speaking of odd Central Park West interiors, Gawker's inside Moby's new pad.
