And now, the latest from Racked, covering NYC shopping from the sidewalks up.
1) Meatpacking: Time to replace those question marks with exclamation points, as Apple confirms the long-active rumors that their next NYC outpost will be at 401 West 14th Street, on the northwest corner of Ninth Avenue. The location, formerly home to Belgian eatery Markt and meatstick purveyor Western Beef, is having $10 million pumped into its upgrade, presumably enough to ensure a premium titanium gleam. Next up for the Big A, also as previously rumored: a store somewhere on the Upper West Side, most likely in area of 84th Street and Broadway.
2) Soho: Speaking of things that sound computer-like: 3.1 Phillip Lim plans to debut a capsule collection at Uniqlo on May 22nd while readying a permanent home at 115 Mercer Street (between Prince and Spring). Also click through for more opening news from Midtown, Union Square, the East Village, and a bunch of other nabes.
3) Nolita: Can an influx of high-end Italian fashion brands make up for the potential loss of the San Gennaro Festival, and simultaneously remake Little Italy into the world power it once was? Who knows!
