On the Racked: Banks on Top of Banks, Mega-Scoop Opens!

And now, the latest from Racked, Curbed's new blog devoted to covering NYC's shopping scene from the sidewalks up.

1) Union Square: Above, a reader sends along what is unquestionably one of the greatest photos we've ever seen, with this note: "You cannot make this stuff up. Fifth Avenue at 14th. So many captions waiting to be written."

2) Lower East Side: Hot on the heels of Whole Foods Bowery, the Avalon Chrystie Industrial Complex lands another happening retail tenant.

3) Midtown West: It'll piss this guy off, but hey: hot deals at Duane Reade!

4) Soho: Bow down before the Scoop monolith as Mega-Scoop opens on Broadway: "The store is, indeed, mega: it's the largest Scoop to date, measuring 10,000 square feet (a whole city block). The shop truly embodies Greenfield and Ben Avraham's plans for world domination, as it's stocked with clothing for men, women, children and baby, as well as beachwear, shoes and accessories."
