With bulldozers almost literally revving up in the background and demolition workers dismantling buildings, a coalition of 26 Brooklyn groups is filing another lawsuit to try to stop the Atlantic Yards project. As opposed to the suit challenging the use of eminent domain to seize property for the development, this litigation says the environmental review and approval process were "fatally flawed" and ignored community concerns. Groups taking part in the suit include Develop Don't Destroy, the Council of Brooklyn Neighborhoods, the Sierra Club and Park Slope Neighbors. Among other things, the lawsuit is asking for injunctions barring demolition until the suit is decided. If it's successful, it would kill the project or force a new review process.
