Interesting Signs of Life at Gowanus Whole Foods Site

There has been much speculation over the last year or so about whether Whole Foods would go ahead with development of its 64,000 square foot store on the shores of the bucolic Gowanus Canal. Nothing has happened on the site in months, other than a symbolic groundbreaking last year. The photo sent by a special correspondent, however, indicates that work is moving forward, even if the workers seem to be, um, dressed in some sort of garb that would indicate the removal of something less than appetizing from the roof of one of the buildings on the site that would have to come down. The toxic cleanup plan for the site, by the way, has gotten a thumbs up from the state. We could swear we spotted one of those construction trailer office things parked behind the buildings on the site too.
