Rumblings and Bumblings: Blue Fence Makeover in Red Hook, Signs of Life South of World Trade, More!

If it's Tuesday, and there's development, there'll be Rumblings & Bumblings. If you've got an answer to one of the reader queries below, leave a note in the comments. If you've got another question, or a sweet, sweet digital photograph, drop a line to tips@curbed.com. Answers Thursday. Because we care.

1) Red Hook: A reader emails, "I came home from work today to find that 440 Van Brunt (seen in photo, above) has been given what I think is the bones of a blue fence makeover, a la IKEA at the other end of Beard Street. Any idea what is going on (or up) here? If Chelsea Gardens is expanding, I don't mind being downwind of the flowers, but I'm hoping it's not another junior faux brick w/ juliet balconies."

2) Downtown: "What's up with the ICON Parking at 111 Washington? It's closed. I'm sure it has to do with that W Hotel that is going up across the street." (Or—though we hate to spoil the fun—this?—ed.)

3) Greenpoint: "I'm trying to figure out what's being built at 550 Humboldt Street (corner of Meeker) in Greenpoint. This was a Mobil station, but they knocked it down, fenced the place off, and put up a permit to remove the tanks. Let's hope not another Finger, we've got plenty."

4) Midtown: "Construction going on at 57th and 6th. Does anyone know what's being built next to the duane reade on 57th and 6th? It used to be the Shelly restaurant but that was knocked down and I hear they are building a hotel there? My apt is facing the gigantic hole right now so I'm just wondering if I'm going to be staring at a concrete wall in a few months." (Again, not to spoil the fun, but from today's AM Linkage, we've got this for you. Apologies.—ed.)
