If there's one thing we've learned from AvalonBay's luxury rental buildings on the Lower East Side, it's that the company builds faster than an ant colony. The newest addition, Avalon Riverview North in Long Island City, was said to have occupancy beginning in July, and sure enough, emails are going around announcing that the pre-leasing period is about to begin. So how much is LIC luxury going for? Studio apartments start at $1,681 (the extra buck probably keeps those sixth-floor deck BBQs burning), one-bedrooms start at $1,949 and two-bedrooms start at $2,837. Riverview North's website proudly champions the building's proximity to the 7 Train, but just in case you don't want to look like you're riding through Beirut next to some kid with purple hair, next to some queer with AIDS, right next to some dude who just got out of jail for the fourth time, right next to some 20-year-old mom with four kids, then parking space are $295/month. Actually, we're not even sure if John Rocker could afford to live in Long Island City nowadays. Sad. Oh, and if you have a pet, you'd better look elsewhere.
