Williamsburg Waterfront #2: Sweet Landmark Coming?

The old Domino Sugar plant in Williamsburg could be taking a big step toward landmarking. After much agitation by local preservationists, it turns out that the Landmarks Preservation Commission is taking steps that could landmark the structure. Yesterday, the LPC voted to schedule a hearing on whether to designate the plant as a landmark. Specifically, the Filter House, Pan House and Finishing House would be landmarked. (In plain English, the entire old buildling you see above, including parts of the structure in the back, could be landmarked.) Much more to come, including a free Don't Demo Domino concert on June 3, plus hearing and votes.
