Going 'Mondrianic' on Lorimer Street

Behold the corner of Lorimer and Stagg Street, where one of the dozens of new condos underway in East Williamsburg is trying to rise. We say "trying," because it's had some, um, regulatory issues that have significantly impeded progress. The Lorimer condo comes from the shop of Bushwick pioneer Robert Scarano, whose website says that "Using art as a benchmark for the facade, the building's varied materials and seemingly random patterning of windows gives it a 'Mondrianic' appearance." Mondrianic.

This is 61-65 Stagg Street just around the corner. Mondrian in spirit?

This is 426 Lorimer Street. Not very Mondrian.
