If you couldn't tell from (above, top to bottom) Vornado's Harlem Park, Bowery's new New Museum or Santiago Calatrava's 80 South Street, weird boxy things are, like, totally in. The Sochi, a luxury condo tower on Coney Island/Brighton Beach, was supposed to join that club. But it looks like the Sochi is a little too similiar to 80 South Street, meaning it was a nice idea whose time has not yet come. Nigel Shamash from NSNYRE sends along word that the development site is for sale, unfortch. Here's the listing, which asks for cash offers. If you recall, the developers bought the property for $13.8 million, so start collecting your rubles.
