Brooklynites Buying Brooklyn Condos!

Don't look now, but some big Brooklyn developments are being bought up by....people that already live in Brooklyn. According to today's Daily News, about 58 percent of the buyers at 110 Livingston, for instance, have been Brooklynites. The breakdown at One Hanson Place is 48 percent Brooklynites and 34 percent Manhattanites, leaving 18 percent in the "other" category. (Staten Island? Queens? Jersey?). Over at Richard Meiers' On Prospect Park it's a 40 percent to 40 percent Brooklyn-Manhattan tie. We're not sure what to make of it, but sales in North Brooklyn condos tend to skew to non-Brooklynites. For instance, only 21 percent of the buyers at Northside Piers in Williamsburg are from Brooklyn. The other headline in that respect is that only 45 percent of the Toll Brothers units have been sold.
