Quadriad's Williamsburg Tower Dies So It Can Rise Again

The Quadriad Development proposal for a 20-story tower at Berry and N. 3rd is Williamsburg is dead, but only in the way that Dracula and zombies are, uh, dead. It turns out that last night the local Community Board voted against an earlier vote in favor of the plan to upzone the block for a highrise, even though it's in the part of Williamsburg that was downzoned to block highrises. But it didn't matter because Quadriad had already withdrawn the proposal, promising to come back later with a formal application. (Are you following this? We're thinking a possible strategy is to confuse everyone into approving it.) The bottom line is that, like all good New Yorkers, it appears to be on summer vacation and will probably be back after Labor Day.
