Hilton Caters to Upscale Tourists on 57th Street

When a glassy new tower begins to spring up a short Hansom cab ride away from Central Park, clearly we must take notice. Over on 57th Street near Sixth Avenue, the Hilton Grand Vacations Company is cooking up something you would assume Manhattan would have a lot more of: a big ol' timeshare. West 57th Street, as it's being called, will sell off week-long increments at prices ranging from $40,000-$117,000, according to the Times. There are 161 units of varying sizes in total, and sales have already begun in advance of the scheduled 2009 opening. The West 57th Street website lists all the amenities you're used to seeing in a modern-day luxury residence or condo-hotel, including a concierge servive, roof deck, owners' lounge, etc. There will also be a spa in the building, for those tense moments when you realize you just spent $117,000 to stay in a penthouse on 57th Street for a week.
