CurbedWire: NewMuseum Opening in November, Printing House Maple Syrup Mystery, Trump Place Hikes Rents

A little CurbedWire to round out the week? Why the hell not, indeed.

1) Lower East Side: Our friends at the New NewMuseum rising on Bowery drop a line to let us know that the museum now has an opening date. Mark your calendars for December 1, friends. Above, workers begin installing the building's mesh cladding. This shit's just gonna get trippier. [CurbedWire Inbox]

2) West Village: A tipster emails, "I live on Hudson Street and this morning just before 9am, I walked outside to find my whole block was filled with Hazmat team trucks, paramedics, and fire trucks. After a little investigating, I found out that there was apparently some sort of chlorine leak at the gym that's on the top floor of the Printing House building (421 Hudson Street). I don't think anyone was hurt, and they seem to have things pretty much under control. However, I went back outside about 20 minutes ago to check on things, and I was overwhelmed by the strong smell of maple syrup in the street. Perhaps there is no connection, but it did make me wonder if those giant clouds of maple syrup smell that plagued the city a year or so ago have something to do with chlorine?" Your theories in the comments, svp. [CurbedWire Inbox]

3) Upper West Side: Per another tipster, "Trump Place (now owned by Equity Apartments) is offering lease renewals, with a 20-25% rent increase (depending on whether you want to resign for 1 year or 2 years). That makes a 1 bedroom (without a river view on a relatively low floor) that rented for $3700 last fall would rent for $4500 this fall." [CurbedWire Inbox]
