Behold 502 Metropolitan in Williamsburg: It's a Keeper

What you are looking at is an early rendering of the building that the Chetrit Group might be building at 502 Metropolitan Avenue, just east of the BQE. Yes, greasy spoon lovers, that's the Kellogg Diner surviving on the corner. This frightening glimpse of the future very interesting look at the reimagined neighborhood was passed along by a tipster who refrained from saying anything about the architectural merit of the building. As we noted last week, a possible tenant on the ground floor could be a "big box" store and the building is cool to go to 12 stories under current zoning. We can't quite put our finger on where we've seen this design before, but it might have been in suburban Atlanta or Houston. The rendering could use some lined-up L Train shuttle buses for a more realistic touch, though.
