CurbedWire: UWS Townhouse Auction, Dumbo Parking Catastrophe, Williamsburg Fireworks Insanity!

UPPER WEST SIDE—Because we're fans of auctions, here's the website for a townhouse at 337 West 70th Street(at West End Avenue) going up for auction next month . Predicted selling price, anyone? [CurbedWire Inbox]

DUMBO—Because one DUMBO controversy a day is never enough, a reader emails, "Last night, I parked my car on Front Street in DUMBO on the sidewalk next to 70 Washington. No signs anywhere, everything seemed normal. This morning, as I walked back to my car shortly before 7 AM, I noticed a tow truck getting ready to take away a car on Front. I didn't think anything of it until I noticed that little yellow papers had suddenly sprung up all over the street stating there was a temporary No Parking zone today starting at 7:00. Now, I don't pretend to know the parking laws very well, but, to me, this presents two major problems. First, how can NYPD tow a car before the No Parking period begins? Second, don't they need to provide advance warning of temporary No Parking zones at least a day (or even twelve hours) in advance? I know for a fact that they did not because I parked on Front three separate times yesterday: in the morning afternoon and evening. What gives?" [CurbedWire Inbox]

WILLIAMSBURG—As regards another Brooklyn controversy, debate rages on in the comments of the Friday 'Wire regarding whether or not the East River State Park really let 5,300 revelers in for July 4 fireworks or not. It is our heartfelt desire that this debate rage until at least July 3, 2008. [CurbedWire Comments]
