LES Getting Its Own Giant Tumor

Furthering our pursuit of buildings springing up in odd angles or from unlikely places, we take you to this little project on the Lower East Side, at Grand Street and Ludlow. You don't really get a sense of what's going on here until you have a glance at the rendering on the scaffolding. Witness the modern tumor that will soon sprout from its host, and then try tackling the confounding "preserving the character of the lower east side, keeping it low down" tagline. Why can't we recall what building this is? Someone make us feel stupid and point us in the right direction.
