Potholes on Williamsburg's Way to Getting Modern

Our friends at the Gowanus Lounge have been chronicling the construction foibles at Williamsburg luxury mini-development The Modern, and yesterday's news of a stop work order at the North 7th Street hole does not disappoint. The cause for the DOB's intervention this time around? Neighbors complained that workers were drilling into the subway wall. Yikes, as if the L couldn't get any worse, right? But the Post does some recon, and the DOB found no evidence of the subway shenanigans, but the order was still slapped on the construction site because of "shoddy excavation work." The Post also uses this as a fun new opportunity to take some shots at the nine-unit building's architect, whose name we're pretty sure you can guess on the first try.
