That's Rather Hideous: Murray Hill 'Cracker Barrel'

That's Rather Hideous examines questionable decisions in interior design as revealed in listing photos. Nominees, please, to tips@curbed.com.

The beauty of interior design, we suppose, lies in the fact that one man's trash might be another man's treasure. Which is really our convoluted way of saying that we're not sure we agree with our tipster that this Murray Hill two-bedroom rises to the level of hideous. Here's his pitch: "Notice the built-in dining table with all the charm of a space-age Cracker Barrel. Goes nicely with the American flag in the window of the groovy high-tech living room." That said, the floorplan reveals this to be a pleasant corner unit with lots of windows, including that rarest of Manhattan treats, the closet-with-window. Asking $1.35 million.
