If it's Tuesday, and there's development, there'll be Rumblings & Bumblings. If you've got an answer to one of the reader queries below, leave a note in the comments. If you've got another question, or a sweet, sweet digital photograph, drop a line to tips@curbed.com. Answers from readers like you on Thursday.
1) Chinatown: Emails a reader, "Something is up at this block of Canal between Eldridge & Forsythe (right) -- the wood pilings look set up for a heavy scaffolding set, and they go more than halfway down the block!" Anyone know what's to come?
2) Upper East Side: Queries another reader, "Does anyone know whats happening to the 73rd/74th St waste transfer facility (between York and the river)? I know from speaking to someone there about a year ago (I was complaining about the noise at 3am) that it was up for 'development' but I just got back late last night from holidays and was woken this morning to see that demolition on the chimney stack has begun. The jackhammers aren't too bad as they are those small handheld units but thankfully my lease is up in 2 months so I wont have to put up with the construction noises for the next 3 years. This is going to be a major square footage site so surprised I haven't read anything here yet about whats being built."
3) Inwood: "Heard there is a 28-story condo development going up in Inwood. The location is currently a parking garage on the corner of Broadway and Sherman. That will have lovely views of Fort Tryon park, but will completely block out all the 6 story prewar buildings east of broadway. Apparently there was a meeting (maybe community board?) at a local church where blueprints were shown. Anybody have more info?"
