Rethinking Scarano on State Street

Sometimes you have to give the devil his due. That's just what Brownstoner did at 326 State Street in Boerum Hill, a Robert Scarano-designed project that 'Stoner has repeatedly trashed. Now the project is nearing completion, and Brownstoner has extended an olive branch to the terror of Smith Street:

the end-product is significantly better than expected. The saving grace? A wood paneling that's still modern but manages to soften the facade's impact on the streetscape. We'd still prefer it if this lined up with the neighboring house and had a little less bulk but overall it worked out much better than we originally gave it credit for.In other news, Hell experienced light flurrying today.
