Justice is for Sale in the Bronx

This tantalizing listing just popped up on our radar, thanks to an alert Curbed tipster. It seems that brokerage Anchor Associates is offering up a, in their words, "white elephant" in the "heart of development zone." The former Bronx County Courthouse in the Melrose neighborhood, with its nine-foot-wide marble staircase and 30-foot ceilings, is available for a whopping $25 million. The 90,000-square-foot courthouse was built in 1935, and there's plenty of development action going on around it, if you read on. It's available for retail use, and if we know our old beautiful buildings reinvisioned for retail, Trader Joe's should already be on the line.
