So, is it a turkey (literally), like blogger Restless has concluded of this architectural ornamentation in Greenpoint or is it an eagle? A deranged looking seagull? An homage to Hitchcock? Restless concludes the overall look is "'Turkish' because of the ornate decoration, rug-like brick patterns and Turkish-screen metalwork" and that it "gives the buildings personality." There are a bunch of these babies in the neighborhood and some have statues of angels/saints flanking the turkeys/eagles. As always, Greenpoint, you rule.
