Does Randall's Island Water Park Sleep with the Fishes?

Don't look now, but that plan to build a $168 million water park on Randall's Island may be in deep, deep trouble. The developer is six months behind schedule and has until tomorrow to prove that he has the cash to build the project. And, if you're looking for signs of seriously impending doom, the City Comptroller is suggesting that the city broke its own rules by extending the original deadline for the developer and that the bidding process should be reopened. He says the developer, Aquatic Development Group, should be dumped. The park would have had 26 acres of water slides, wave pools and man-made rivers. The bottom line of this water drama is that it's looking like it will be a while before anyone can pack their swimsuits and head to Randall's Island, if at all.
