CurbedWire: Clemente Going Going Gone, Hotel Crunch, UWS Getting Stabby

EAST VILLAGE?Numerous Curbed tipsters dropped a line to let us know that the old Roberto Clemente Center building on 13th Street and Avenue B (the current home is 13th Street between Avenues A and B) suddenly got some construction fencing around it. We went to check it out, and it appears the building is currently being demolished. Sexily, we might add. Some permit research shows that 215 Avenue B will be a residential building from alleged hack architect Stephen B. Jacobs. Any other info? [CurbedWire Inbox]

EAST VILLAGE?A reader filed this crucial update on a previous Wire item concerning the Crunch Gym building at 408 Lafayette and its mysterious roof structure: "I was at the Landmarks meeting this week for community board 2 and several people representing this building/project presented plans for doing a 74-711 on the building then turning it into a 190 room hotel. What hotel chain? No idea... but they are going to restore the windows & busted wall that face the parking lot (even though they are lot-line windows). They also plan to cut a hole in the middle of the building for the rooms' light & air access then take that space and put it up on the roof... which is why you have the mock-up there now. The full board meeting is tomorrow, but the sub-committee voted to approve the application and 74-711, but denied their application to create a roof addition." The one that's already going up? Oops. UPPER WEST SIDE?No further comment: "You keep writing stories about shit being found on the doorstep. Disgusting, but harmless. Yesterday, my 2-year-old daughter picked up this jigsaw blade that was lying on the ground next to a slide at the playground in Central Park at West 97th Street. My wife called 311, who said they would respond to the problem within 3 days!" OK, forget the no further comment thing: Holy shit! [CurbedWire Inbox]
