There have been rumors all week that some sort of Coney Island news would be out by the end of the week. This morning we know: It looks like a number of Coney Island businesses are being given one-year leases so they can keep operating next year. As for the operatic saga of Astroland, it looks like the It Will Live-It Will Die pendulum has clearly swung back toward life. Astroland's owner says she is "hopeful" and Thor's spokesperson says that the negotiations to give the park a one-year reprieve are "ongoing." So, it turns out that Astroland's "last day" may not have been the real last one, after all, for now.
