UNION SQUARE?Since it's Friday, it's time for an extended afternoon rant. Today's is about the noise emanating from the redo of the Tiffany's Building at 15 Union Square West. A reader who lives nearby writes: "They work nights and days from around 5 am to 10 pm and sometimes until 12 pm. At the moment they are working 18 hours a day ignoring their permits which allow them to work from seven am to seven pm...The noise is incessant, billows of dust blow down 15th street. Numerous complaints to the Buildings Dept and DEP have gone unanswered. In response to a complaint about construction at night the BD sent an agent out at three in the afternoon." [CurbedWire Inbox]

BROOKLYN NAVY YARD?There's been no word for a long, long time about the old buildings known as Admiral's Row that are slate to become a supermarket, but today comes this alarming word: "Regarding Admiral's Row, they are currently pruning around the buildings and it's my concern that demolition might follow even though the Army National Guard is conducting a fourteen month environmental survey on the property." FORT GREENE?There may be some movement to remove the black shroud around the top of the Williamsburgh Savings Bank building. From an email: "Last night I looked up and saw a beautiful dome emerging from the tarp that has been covering it for what seems like forever. This morning I looked up again and there are people up there working. Maybe a sign that we'll see the clock again sometime soon?" [CurbedWire Inbox]
