Windmills are coming to Red Hook. Apparently some old water towers on Van Dyke Street are being converted into energy-generating windmills that will power the lights on the pier alongside the Red Hook Fairway. The windmills are supposed to be done by spring. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Paper also says a big, "lushly planted" green roof is going in on top of a factory a couple of blocks away. The $14-per-square-foot roof is being paid for with a $250,000 federal grant. No word on whether Ikea's going to add green to the blue-and-yellow mix.
