William Beaver, the fun-loving miniature mammal whose rumored alcoholism may have contributed to his eventual downfall from being a mascot extraordinaire, died today. He was 10 months old. For some time, Mr. Beaver's lavish, swinging lifestyle was seen as a strong selling point for the Financial District luxury condo development that bore his name. Eventually, however, Mr. Beaver's promotional blitz lost some steam, and his NC-17 behavior was deemed an unfit match for the project. Still, he soldiered on, until his time finally came, via website whitewashing. His MySpace page was deleted. William Beaver is survived by his former business partner, Andre Balazs.
