It probably isn't the "rather careless contractor" that has Cornelius Casey, original owner of 90 First Place in Carroll Gardens, spinning in his grave of nearly 100 years. Nor is it the 14 complaints to DOB or the eight DOB violations or the "total gut job." Not even the roof collapse back in July after it rained. What is making some people on First Place nuts is actually the pitched roof they're now putting on the building. In the words of neighborhood blogger PMFA, "One can see it clearly from Court Street, looking over North Fork Bank." First a boat gets stuck a block away, and now this.
