For anyone that isn't satisfied with the new bike parking shelters being installed as part of the city's street furniture program (and there have been a few early theft-related bumps in the process) the "next level" may be on its way. How about a bikes-only parking garage? The 34th Street Partnership is looking into developing one and already has picked out a 2,600 square foot lot next to a building on West 33rd Street. Now, all they need is corporation that wants to shell out $200,000 a year to sponsor it. McDonald's has done it in Chicago. How about an American Apparel soft core porn bike lot? It might work.
