Metal Shutter Mania: Ban's Bamboo and a Sales Office Too!

Architect Shigeru Ban's small collection of bodegas/luxury apartments known as the Metal Shutter Houses continue to sell like little bancakes, but what of the West Chelsea construction site? Progress is slow (has ground even broken?), but the area is wrapped in bamboo in lieu of advertisement-dotted plywood, so that's something. We're sure Annabelle Selldorf's 520 West Chelsea and Frank Gehry's IAC building are eagerly awaiting their shiny new neighbor. As for the Metal Shutter sales office at 515 West 19th Street, it's surprisingly low-tech. In fact, it may be downright charming!
