The 24-unit condo building designed by Hotel on Rivington architects Grzywinski Pons at 115-119 Norfolk Street has been years in the making. When it was revealed in 2005, Triple Mint wrote: "this glass fronted apartment house will have a mix of 1 and 2-bedroom units with two 3-bedroom duplex penthouses. Ground floor units will have private yards. A common roof garden will have a small lap pool." But in the wake of the Switch Building and?oh, yeah?BLUE on that same block, 115-119 Norfolk was kind of forgotten. That is, until today.
We've received word that the property is in contract for almost $10 million, or $400 per buildable square-foot. Massey Knakel's Michael F. DeCheser and Philip Huang?also in charge of finding a buyer for the LES' legendary Streit's matzo factory?have the listing. We're told the buyer will proceed with the approved condo plan and finish the project, perhaps with the name "Norfolk Atrium." Expect construction to begin before you receive the appropriate amount of time to mock the name "Norfolk Atrium."
