Think the city's proposal for rezoning 125th Street is going to sail through? Maybe, but it won't be happening without heavy flak from the neighborhood. Over the last couple of days, several 125th Street rezoning-related emails have hit the inbox. One had a flier in English, Spanish and Creole (from which the above 125th Street "before" and Midtown "after" graphic comes) from Community Board 10. It urges the community to come to the City Planning Commission's January 30 meeting to "say no" to the current proposal, which would allow for significant high rise development among other things. Another was from a coalition sponsoring "strategy training sessions" in advance of the meeting. Those started this morning and will be repeated tonight and Saturday. Community resistance, anyone?
