Someday, a big stretch of Third Street near the Gowanus Canal will look very different than it does today. The latest evidence that major change is coming (at some point) is that two adjacent properties have hit the market for $10 million and $15 million respectively. The first property, at 140 Third Street is a marble business with more than 60,000 square feet of existing space, including that ever-desirable frontage on the Gowanus Canal. (From which people have been known to catch bluefish and bring them home for dinner.) It's being near "Boymelgreen and Toll Brothers projects." Price: $10 million. The second property, which is at 130 Third Street (Third and Bond) with 67,000 buildable square feet is billed as "one block from the future Whole Foods Market." Asking price: $15 million. Put them together and it's a huge site, although its fate in the Gowanus rezoning is up in the air and it's not currently a spot where residential development would be allowed. Anybody up for another hotel?
