Nearly two years after the announcement of the new line of NYC street furniture, the whole line is now rolled out. First, came the new bus shelters. Then, the new newsstands. Followed by the public toilets. Now, the new bike parking shelters are arriving. Streets Blog reports that they're being installed and offers pics of the bicycle versions of the street furniture line in Long Island City and Fort Greene. It's unclear why bike racks require a glass shelter, except that they present another opportunity to sell advertising and an interesting target for those that have been doing this kind of thing to their bus shelter brethren. In any case, the street furniture foursome is now complete. Watch for the new look to continue spreading quickly.
