CurbedWire: Old Ship Sails, More Trouble at NYT Bldg, One Hanson Has Closings

FIDI?The winds of change are starting to blow through and around South Street Seaport. A tipster writes: "1. The giant boat that has been in this spot for years is now missing. (see photo.) 2. Two old piers a bit south of here near where the 80 south st building will be were demolished two weeks ago. 3. The empty parking lot across from this empty slip is now fenced off. Directly in front of the seaport museum." [CurbedWire Inbox]

MIDTOWN?Add the new New York Times Building to the list of midtown buildings where things have gone wrong today (and again, for that matter). A reader writes, "We just got an e-mail that they've closed 40th street because a window on the 22nd floor cracked. Now they have to inspect the entire building -- AGAIN -- for cracks." FORT GREENE?In contrast to some testy Brooklyn condo buyers, those at One Hanson seem okay. One emails to say: "The first closing occurred today on the 9th floor. Floors 9-14 are closing from now until January 31st. Floors 15-16 will receive our letters anywhere from February 1st-15th with closing March 1st-15th. It will continue after that...the management team at One Hanson brought in Verizon to install FIOS." [CurbedWire Inbox]
