CurbedWire: Astor Place Pops Up in Portugal, Larry on WTC

LISBON?Writes a Curbed International Correspondent, "Thought you guys might appreciate this. It's an Opel ad I saw a week ago at the Lisbon airport. The car is supposed be zipping through some cool modern metropolis, surrounded by Awesome Buildings. These appear to be, left to right: One Liberty Plaza; some nightmare Photoshop version of Gwathmey's Sculpture for Living, with its top part mashed into its middle; another Photoshop hack job based on J Condo; and a hilariously random office building on Watts between Sixth Ave and Varick. (At which point the designer's imagination runs out, and J Condo and Sculpture for Living reappear, flipped horizontally)." Actually, the one next to Sculpture for Living kind of looks like 388 Greenwich Street, home to probably the best falafel cart in town. [CurbedWire Inbox]

WTC?Developer Larry Silverstein's office issued a statement following the release of the Port Authority's new timetable for the redevelopment of the World Trade Center. Old Man Larry had this to say: "We thank Governor Paterson and Mayor Bloomberg for their leadership, and we appreciate the Port Authority’s work over the past several months in trying to develop greater certainty about the schedule and cost of its projects at the World Trade Center site. We are now going to study the Port Authority’s report and back-up materials so that our construction professionals can evaluate the new dates they have identified. This will allow us to gauge the impact on our part of the World Trade Center rebuilding effort." Exciting. [CurbedWire Inbox]
