As far as Hudson River Park goes, Pier 57 gets far less attention than its screwed up sibling to the south, Pier 40. But we're learning to stop caring about Pier 40, so let's see what's up with 15th Street's Pier 57?which, you probably don't recall, was supposed to be a "Little Italy on the Hudson" called Leonardo (right) before the developers dropped out due to shady mob ties and things of that ilk. Now, three new developers have submitted bids to take over Pier 57: the Related Companies, Young Woo & Associates, and a partnership between the Durst Organization and C&K Properties. Related's "Vegas on the Hudson" proposal for Pier 40 was shredded by Mario Batali and friends, so it'll be interesting to see what the company has cooked up for Pier 57. There is not much known as of yet about the bids, but residential, hotel and most commercial space is prohibited. According to the Observer, the Durst bid includes the Children's Museum of Manhattan, currently based on West 83rd Street. Getting the kids on your side? Very sneaky. We like your style, Dursts.
