Developer Two Trees is planning a huge rental project in Hell's Kitchen called Clinton Park, a major part of which is a Mercedes Benz showroom and service center along Eleventh Avenue. In fact, as the project navigates a testy public review process, we recently found out that the Mercedes portion of the 900-unit complex is the only part that currently has its financing in order. As for the rest of Clinton Park, it may be up in the air, but that hasn't stopped Mercedes from firing the starting gun. The luxury automaker unleashed a press release today announcing its new digs:
The new 330,000+ sq. ft. facility, located on 11th Avenue between 53rd Street and 54th Streets, is currently under construction by Two Trees Management of Brooklyn, N.Y. MB Manhattan's existing location at the entrance of the Lincoln Tunnel on 41st Street on 11th Avenue will continue to service New York area customers until the new facility opens in 2011. While it maybe be premature to say the facility is "under construction," a Two Trees spokesperson tells us the dealership is as-of-right, so it'll happen regardless of the fate of Clinton Park. Though, we cant bare to think of this project with architect Enrique Norten's stairway to heaven sitting on top.
