Good News & Bad in Park Slope: Boymelpark is Open!

New, 14 comments

There is good news and bad news in Park Slope, the Terrapin Playground, otherwise known as the Boymelpark is open. The good news is that after more than a year of delay and a great deal of local bitterness developer Shaya Boymelgreen has rebuilt the playground that was destroyed to use as a staging ground for the construction of the Novo Park Slope condos. The bad news is that the park is open and that buyers of the expensive condos in the back now have a dog run, handball courts and a skateboard park right out their back windows. Any wagers on how many hours it takes before the calls to 311 start coming in? It's unclear how the park was opened. Over the weekend it looks like fences were ripped down. The "official" opening was supposed to be today.
